Allocation of Lands required for the Embilipitiya Town Centre Development and Urban Park Development Projects

- The rapid development projects implemented in the Hambantota town, have resulted in a rapid development in the Embilipitiya town which is located at close proximity to Hambantota. Accordingly, the Embilipitiya Town Centre Development plan has been designed to implement the projects required to upgrade the infrastructure facilities of the Embilipitiya town. Through the proposed plan, it is anticipated to develop the Kawanthissa wewa and the surrounding area under the Town Centre Development project and upgrade a Children's park, road development and other infrastructure facilities. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka, the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, to vest the lands required to implement the proposed two projects, with the Urban Development Authority, was approved by the Cabinet.
