Upgrading of the Kuliyapitiya Base Hospital into a Teaching Hospital

- Concurrent to the proposal of granting a new medical faculty for the Wayamba University as proposed in the Budget Proposals 2017, it has been planned to upgrade the Kuliyapitiya Base Hospital into a Teaching Hospital, in order to make provision for the required facilities for the clinical training for the students who enter the proposed faculty. As such, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, to upgrade the Kuliyapitiya Base Hospital into a fully-fledged Teaching Hospital with all necessary facilities so as to provide a high quality clinical training, was approved by the Cabinet.
