Bingiriya-Udubaddawa Water Supply Project - Phase 1

- A proposal has been made to implement the Bingiriya-Udubaddawa Water Supply Project for the supply of pipe water for 76 Grama Niladhari Divisions in the Kuliyapitiya East, Udubaddawa, Pannala and Bingiriya Divisional Secretariat Divisions as a remedial measure to the issue of the quality of the water from the dug up wells in some areas in the Kurunegala District. Under the Phase 1 of this project, a pump house will be constructed which can pump 36,500 cum of raw water daily and produce 34,500 cum of treated water daily. The people in the Bingiriya Investment Zone and 33 Grama Niladhari Divisions in the Pannala, Makandura, Kuliyapitiya and Udubaddawa will reap the benefits under this project. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Rauff Hakeem, the Minister of City Planning and Water Supply, to call for requests for proposals from the Budapest Waterworks Zrt and the Hungarian Water Cluster for the implementation of the Phase 1 of this project, was approved by the Cabinet.
