Improvement of the Remand Prison at Wariyapola

- In the Remand Prison of Wariyapola where around 500 detainees are detained daily, the suspects and the remand prisoners, awaiting to be produced before the Courts in the Kurunegala District are also detained there and it is found that the accommodation therein is inadequate for these detainees. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. (Mrs.) Thalatha Atukorala, the Minister of Justice & Prison Reforms, to secure the financial provision required for the improvement of the Wariyapola Remand Prison within the Medium Term Budgetary Framework, was approved by the Cabinet.
