Improvement of facilities of the Swami Vipulananda Institute of Aesthetic Studies affiliated to the Eastern University

- Action has been taken to expand the educational activities of the Swami Vipulananda Institute of Aesthetic Studies affiliated to the Eastern University of Sri Lanka enabling the students to follow courses such as Drama and Theatre, Visual and Technological Arts, as well, in addition to the fields of Music and Dance. As such, the need for the improvement of the infrastructure facilities of the institution to suite the present day educational courses and the necessities have been recognized. Therefore, it has been planned to provide infrastructure facilities including the refurbishment of the auditorium, the construction of a building complex with audio and video recording cum editing facilities and other infrastructure facilities necessary for the purpose. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Wijayadasa Rajapaksa, the Minister of Higher Education & Cultural Affairs, to implement this project with the Indian Rs.275 million grant provided by the Government of India as a financial assistance and Rs.60.7 million as a total investment granted by the Government, was approved by the Cabinet.
