Brand Promotion Scheme for the pure Ceylon Tea Exports : 2018/2019
- Approval of the Cabinet has been granted previously to implement a brand promotion programme, with a view to further promoting the pure Ceylon Tea with the Lion logo, in accordance with the budget proposal for the year 2015. Accordingly, Agreements have been entered into with 19 Companies pertaining to the matter and in respect of which, about Rs.177 million had been incurred. The Ceylon Tea Board has planned to extend this promotion scheme also to the year 2018/2019. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Navin Dissanayake, the Minister of Plantation Industries, to set apart a sum of Rs.500 million from the funds of the Ceylon Tea Board, to reimburse an amount of 50% to those Tea Export Companies/Exporters with full local ownership, who meet the relevant qualifications to promote the private brand names concurrent to the Global Tea Promotion programme planned by the Ceylon Tea Board, from the promotion cost to be incurred by them, was approved by the Cabinet.
