Construction of a Ten Storey Building at the Provincial General Hospital in Badulla
- The Provincial General Hospital in Badulla equipped with 1,493 beds and 41 wards, is the largest Health Service providing institution in the Uva Province. Approval of the Cabinet has been granted to implement an Accident and Emergency Care Project, and to construct a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory with Auxiliary Clinical Services at the Hospital. Accordingly, a proposal has been made to construct a new ten‑storey building in the hospital premises to establish surgical/medical ward facilities and cardiac treatment facilities as well as the proposed Accident and Emergency Care Unit. As such, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, to award the contract for the construction of the ten‑storey building to the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB), with an investment of Rs.3,958.2 million, was approved by the Cabinet.
