Improvement of Public Health in Batticaloa District

- A proposal has been made to construct 3,400 sanitary units so as to cover 14 Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Batticaloa district. The Government of India has agreed to grant Rs.300 million, which is expected to be incurred for the purpose. By implementing the project, it is expected to minimize health issues and poverty level in those areas. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Vijith Vijayamuni Zoysa, the Minister of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources Development and Rural Economic Affairs, to enter into the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which has been prepared to implement the said project, was approved by the cabinet.
