Preparing a National Policy for Primary Industries in Sri Lanka

- Measures have been taken to prepare a national policy for primary industries with the objective of the primary industry sector actively contributing in achieving the government goal of enhancing the export earnings and strengthening livelihood of the people through the promotion of investments. Promotion of competitiveness and productivity in the primary industry sector, research and development, enhancement of entrepreneurial capacity, increase of global market share, entire economic growth through the market diversification and export promotion is expected to be covered by this policy. Accordingly, the National policy for primary industries was submitted by Hon. Daya Gamage, the Minister of Social Welfare and Primary Industries, for information of the Cabinet.
