Restructuring of the Department of Government Factory (DGF)

- The Department of Government Factory (DGF) is a Department which possesses the competency in carrying out the mechanical, engineering work and installation activities with high quality required for the development activities and various Government Institutions for a longer period of time. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Sajith Premadasa, the Minister of Housing and Construction, to appoint a committee to obtain recommendations to restructure the Department in order to further continue as an independent institution and grant approval for the mechanical, engineering work and installation activities required for the institutions of the Public Sector to be performed by the Department of Government Factory under direct contract method, until the proposed restructuring activities are completed, was approved by the Cabinet.
