Obtaining Technical Assistance required for the Urban Development Projects

- By carrying out feasibility studies on Urban Development Projects and preparing detailed designs and strengthening the institutional capacity pertaining to performance and implementation of procurement activities for expediting the project activities, it is expected to strengthen the project preparedness through the proposed urban project preparatory facility. Under this, the start‑up efficiency of the projects for the development of 25 secondary towns implemented under the Ministry of Provincial Councils, Local Government and Sports and the projects for the development of 04 Strategic Cities implemented under the Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development, will be enhanced. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe, the Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs, to obtain the technical assistance loan of US$ 10 million from the Asian Development Bank for the purpose, was approved by the Cabinet.
