Implementation of the 'Clean Air 2025 Action Plan'

- The Government has implemented several programmes to control the air pollution that existed in the atmosphere of the Colombo metropolitan area and the suburbs, for a considerable period of time. Under the guidance of the Air Resources Management Centre which was established to facilitate for the management of the quality of air, The 'Clean Air 2000 Action Plan' has been implemented uninterruptedly, subject to appropriate amendments.
The 'Clean Air 2025 Action Plan' has been prepared with the objective of managing the quality of air in Sri Lanka at a optimum level for the next few years. Accordingly, the proposal made by H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena, in his capacity as the Minister of Mahaweli Development and Environment, to implement the said plan and to appoint a Steering Committee to monitor and regulate the implementation of such plan, was approved by the Cabinet.
