Required amendments to the Establishments Code in accordance with the provisions of the Right to Information Act, No.12 of 2016

Under the Right to Information Act, No.12 of 2016, providing of information in possession of the public institutions to the people is effective with effect from 03rd February 2017. It has been identified that when the provisions of the Act is enforced by the public officers, certain provisions found hitherto pertaining to the provision of information to the public in the Establishments Code have to be revised. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ranjith Madduma Bandara, the Minister of Public Administration & Management and Law & Order, to make the required amendments in Volume II of the Establishments Code, taking into consideration the views of the Public Service Commission, provided for by way of Circular instructions, was approved by the Cabinet.
