Appointment of a Task Force to direct, coordinate and monitor the development programmes in the Northern and Eastern Provinces

Subsequent to the cessation of the conflict which existed in the Northern and Eastern Provinces, several projects have been implemented for Socio Economic Development of the areas. However, it is observed that the projects have not been sufficiently effective in raising the living standards of the people of the area. As such, the information furnished by H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena, to the Cabinet to the effect that he has taken measures to appoint a Task Force to review, coordinate, operate and monitor the development programmes implemented in the Northern and Eastern Provinces by various Government Institutions, comprising of the Hon. Prime Minister, Provincial Governors, Chief Secretaries of Provinces, Officers of the Armed Forces and the Police in charge of Provinces and all relevant stakeholders under his Chairmanship, was noted by the Cabinet.
