Payment of Special Compensation for the properties damaged due to the incidents that took place in the Beruwala, Aluthgama Areas

- Action has been taken by the Government to grant the maximum compensation payable under the existing regulations for the properties damaged due to the civil commotion that took place in the year 2014 in the Beruwala and Aluthgama areas in the Kalutara District. As such, the proposal made by Hon. D.M. Swaminathan, the Minister of Resettlement, Rehabilitation, Northern Development & Hindu Religious Affairs, to allocate a sum of Rs.185.9 million to enable the further payments recommended by a Special Valuation Committee appointed by the District Secretary in order to compensate for the damages caused to furniture and other equipment that have not been covered so far, was approved in principle by the Cabinet.
