Implementation of the Beira Lake Intervention Area Development Plan and the Bank Protection

- The Urban Development Authority has planned to develop the area surrounding the Beira Lake as a tourist attraction destination, preserving its natural beauty. Under this programme, the necessity of implementation of projects pertaining to the establishment of a Linear Park around the lake, development of the surrounding lands of the lake and the infrastructure facilities have been identified. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka, the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, to take necessary action to conserve the lake bank prior to commencing the said development activities, was approved by the Cabinet.
