Establishment of a National Centre of e Content Development for Computer Assisted Teaching

- A project proposal has been prepared by the Ministry of education to formalize information technology education and the use of information technology for education in Sri Lankan schools and action will be taken to provide computers and accessories to all provincial Information Technology Resource Centres and to establish two communication technology information centres each at the Nilwala National College of Education premises and the Addalachchenai National College of Education premises and also to establish a National e‑Content Development Centre at the Narangala Estate premises in Kuliyapitiya. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, the Minister of Education, to secure funds amounting to US$ 56.9 million through the Korean EXIM Bank from the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) and the Abu Dhabi Fund, for the implementation of this project, was approved by the Cabinet.
