Emergency Measures necessary for the control of the influenza epidemic spreading in the Southern Province
Nearly 2,000 patients of suspected influenza have been admitted to the hospitals of the Southern Province within the past 02 months and it has been reported that 11 patients have died during the period. The Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine has taken numerous measures for the control of the disease, including provision of emergency treatment services and setting up of places for segregating patients. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Mohomed Casim Mohomed Faizal, the Acting Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, to provide the additional medical equipment, other equipment and facilities without delay, to be supplied to the relevant hospitals expeditiously, for further strengthening the measures taken up for the prevention of spreading the disease within the Province and the adjacent areas, in accordance with the instructions of H.E. the President, was approved by the Cabinet.
