Increase of the subsidy provided by the Government for the 'Sisu Seriya', 'Gemi Seriya' and 'Nisi Seriya' Bus Passenger Services

- The Government has introduced 'Sisu Seriya' and 'Gemi Seriya' projects respectively, to provide bus passenger transport services to school students and the students of Universities, Technical Institutions and other similar Institutions on concessionary rates and also to provide bus services to the general public living by the non‑profitable rural routes. The 'Nisi Seriya' project is also implemented to ensure the reliability of the night final turn and the dawn first turn.

It is essential to further encourage the implementation of these bus passenger services and accordingly, considering the timely cost, the proposal made by Hon. Nimal Siripala de Silva, the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, to increase the concessionary cost granted by the Government for these bus passenger services, was approved by the Cabinet.
