Scheme for providing the Kerosene subsidy

- The Cabinet on 2018-05-09 approved the implementation of the 'Pricing Formula System' for the petroleum products and accordingly, instructions were given to the relevant institutions to design a proper scheme to grant a kerosene subsidy to the low income families with no access to electricity and the small scale fishery community using mechanized boats who will be affected due to the increase in fuel price. As such, taking into consideration the proposal made by Hon. Arjuna Ranatunga, the Minister of Petroleum Resources Development, approval of the Cabinet has been granted to take necessary action in keeping with the amount of increase in the price of kerosene to provide the subsidy for kerosene, implemented up to now also in the future.
