Awarding the contract for the construction of Wellamankara Fishery Harbour

- The approval of the Cabinet has been granted earlier to construct the Wellamankara Fishery Harbour with two breakwaters with 4 meters deep and 700 meters long to provide all service facilities for fishery boats of 40 to 60 feet in size engaged in the fishery industry.

The proposal made by Hon. Mahinda Amaraweera, the then Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development, to award the contract for the construction of the said fishery harbour to M/s R R Construction (Pvt.) Ltd., for a sum of Rs.1,862.25 million, as recommended by the Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (CAPC), also taking into consideration the concurrence given by the present Hon. Minister of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources Development and Rural Economic Affairs, in that regard, was approved by the Cabinet.
