Use of the 'Soranawatta' Land at Horana for a middle class housing project

- Although, it was planned to use Soranawatta' Land at Horana to relocate the Welikada prison and the relevant institutions, the arrangements pertaining to the relocation process has been suspended due to the demands made by the local community and the political leaders of the area. As such, action is being taken to identify another plot of land suitable for the relocation of the prison. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka, the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, to make use of the Soranawatta' Land at Horana to construct a housing project for the middle income earners and improve the related facilities, was approved by the Cabinet.
