The National Survey for identification of Risk factors of the non-communicable diseases in stages
- The National Survey STEPS is conducted for identifying the data in stages on risk factors that contribute to the non-communicable diseases with the objective of collecting the data necessary to determine the spread of non-communicable diseases and for the preparation of plans for deciding the prevalence and the prevention and control of the non‑communicable diseases. Since the year 2003, this National Survey is conducted once in every 05 years and preparations are underway to conduct it once again in the year 2018. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, to conduct the National Survey STEPS Island-wide at an estimated cost of Rs.50 million, in the month of August in the year 2018, was approved by the Cabinet.
