Allocation of plots of Land from the Regional Industrial Estates to set up Industries

The 'Regional Industrial Services Committee' and the 'Project Evaluation Committee' of the Ministry select the suitable investors for the Regional Industrial Estates Development Programme implemented for promoting the industries at regional level.

Accordingly, newspaper advertisements have been published calling for proposals for the selection of suitable investors for vacant plots of land available in the industrial estates at Karandeniya, Bata-atha, Noorani, Puttalam, Laksha Uyana and Batticaloa. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Rishad Bathiudeen, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, to allocate plots of land on a 35 year lease basis in respect of 8 project proposals out of same, as recommended by the Regional Industrial Services Committee and the Project Evaluation Committee of the Ministry, was approved by the Cabinet.
