Implementation of the Pilot Project for the creation of Young Agrarian Entrepreneurs in the districts of Kurunegala and Puttalam

- Approval of the Cabinet has been granted to implement a project under the 'Food Production National Programme' to create entrepreneurs who will be able to involve in agriculture at commercial level, with a view to improving the local food production. As a pilot project, it has been planned for 100 selected young entrepreneurs in the Kurunegala District, to be provided with concessionary loan facilities to procure resources including modern technology in agricultural equipment. Taking into consideration the prevailing weather condition in the Kurunegala District and the interest already shown by the agricultural entrepreneurs in this regard, in the Puttalam district, the proposal made by H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena, to implement the pilot project including the district of Puttalam as well, was approved by the Cabinet.
