Upgrading the Fishing Fleet to increase fish production and to enhance the quality of fish landings

- Cabinet has granted approval for the implementation of a project for upgrading the Fishing Fleet to increase fish production and to enhance the quality of fish landings. The budget of 2018 has allocated a sum of Rs.400 million for this project. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Mahinda Amaraweera, the Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development, for the production of 23 fishing boats on the basis of the beneficiary making a contribution of 50%, was approved by the Cabinet.
