Development of the Bloemendhal Area for Port related logistics

- It has been identified that the Bloemendhal area in Colombo needs to be developed for the Colombo Port related logistics and the commercial and residential development purposes with the expectation to improve the cargo operation activities of the Port of Colombo and to improve its efficiency and it will enable to make the local import and export activities effective. Through this initiative, action will be taken to ensure a more protective environment devoid of health hazards to the community living around Bloemendhal in under facility houses.

Further, it has been planned to carry out the construction of such work as the the expansion of the Authentication Centre at the Sri Lanka Customs, Urban Recreational Garden and the Kimbula Ela Water Retention area as well as the improvement of additional railway line facilities. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka, the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, to carry out these development activities, was approved by the Cabinet.
