Carrying out the Rehabilitation activities of the Kankesanthurai Harbour

In accordance with the development policy framework of the Government, the rehabilitation of the Kankesanthurai Harbour for commercial purposes as a self sustainable Commercial Port has been identified to be one of the major projects under the North East Economic Corridor Concept. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Mahinda Samarasinghe, the Minister of Ports and Shipping, to undertake the rehabilitation of the existing brake water and the construction of the new Jetty of the Kankesanthurai Harbour by the Sri Lanka Ports Authority utilizing the funds of the Line of Credit provided by the Government of India, and to appoint the Procurement and Technical Evaluation Committees for the purpose, was approved by the Cabinet.
