Construction of the Moragolla Hydro Power Plant

Under the Green Power Development and Energy Efficiency Improvement Investment Programme, the procurement activities of the construction of the Moragolla Hydro Power Plant with a capacity of 30.2 Megawatts are implemented in three Lots. Out of this, under the first Lot, civil works consisting of road construction, office construction, irrigation system and quarters for employees are due to be constructed and a sum of US$ 5.21 has been set apart for the purpose. Accordingly, the 7 bids have been received from the bids called for this procurement, the proposal made by Hon. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, the Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, to award the contract to the bidder V V Karunaratne & Company, the lowest bidder for a sum of Rs.1,109.4 million, (without VAT) as recommended by the Procurement Appeal Board (PAB) and the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC), was approved by the Cabinet.
