Holding of a Presidential Media Award Ceremony for Media Personnel

The necessity of identifying the multiple talents and skills of the media personnel and while appreciating their skills, evaluate and guide them in the appropriate way to create professional media personnel and motivate them and to empower the entire media sector in order to build a just society and to induce the media personnel to create a progressive media culture, has been recognized. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, the Minister of Finance and Mass Media, to hold a Presidential Media Award Ceremony annually from 2018 onwards to appreciate the mission and the contribution made by Sri Lankan Media Personnel, was approved by the Cabinet
