Vesting of a plot of land to establish the office of Payagala Medical Officer of Health (MOH)

Considering the number of hospitals and the offices of the MOH situated in the area of the National Institute of Health Sciences in Kalutara, the establishment of a MOH office in Wadugoda, Payagala has been identified as essential for the purpose of according due attention to child and maternal health and implementing programmes to take follow-up action to prevent the non communicable diseases such as diabetes, heart diseases, high-blood pressure as well as dengue prevention in the area. It is considered that the premises where the Wadugoda Primary School was situated which remains closed since the year 2004 is highly appropriate for this purpose.

Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, to vest the said land with the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, to establish the Payagala MOH Office, was approved by the Cabinet
