Hosting of the 70th World Health Day Celebrations in Colombo

- Arrangements have been made to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the World Health Organization (WHO) which falls in the year 2018, under the theme of 'Universal Health Coverage: for everyone, everywhere'. It has been found that it would be appropriate to conduct the Anniversary Celebrations this year in Sri Lanka as a country with Health Indices on par with the Developed countries. The representatives of the WHO, Ministers of Health in 12 countries, Agents from 11 member states and high profile officers representing the field of health are scheduled to participate in this event.

As such, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, to host the 70th World Health Day, inauguration ceremony on the 07th of April 2018, in Colombo, was approved by the Cabinet.
