Purchasing of 100 Waste Transport Vehicles (Compactors) for formalizing of the transportation of waste by the Local Authorities

- It has been identified that 341 additional waste transport vehicles are required for the Local Authorities to carry out the waste disposal efficiently and effectively. Out of this number, action is in progress to obtain 190 waste transport vehicles under the Korean Loan Aid facility. A further number of 100 waste transport vehicles are proposed to be purchased expeditiously with domestic funds and for this purpose bids have been called.

Considering the recommendations of the Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (CAPC) and the Procurement Appeal Board, the proposal made by Hon. Faiszer Musthapha, the Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government, to award the contract for the supply of 100 waste transport vehicles (Compactors) with a capacity of 6 cubic meters, to M/s ZXY Hong Kong Co. Limited of China, for a sum of Rs.622.13 million, was approved by the Cabinet.
