Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2018-02-27

Conducting a Feasibility Study for the implementation of the Section of the Highway from Rajagiriya to Athurugiriya under the project for the construction of an Elevated Highway from the New Kelani Bridge up to Athurugiriya

- The Cabinet approval has been granted to implement the construction of a Four lane Elevated Expressway project from the New Kelani Bridge to Athurugiriya with connectivity to Battaramulla, Malabe, Athurugiriya areas and the Outer Circular Highway.

Accordingly, taking into consideration the concurrence of Hon. Kabir Hashim, the present Minister in-charge of the subject, the proposal made by Hon. Lakshman Kiriella, the then Minister of Higher Education and Highways, to award the contract to conduct a feasibility study on the section from Rajagiriya to Athurugiriya in Phase II of the project to M/s Resource Development Consultants (Pvt.) Ltd. and M/s SMEC International Pty Ltd. for a sum of Rs.98.73 million, in accordance with the recommendation of the Cabinet Appointed Consultancy Procurement Committee, was approved by the Cabinet.
