Implementation of the Paddy Purchase Programme of the Government (PPPG) for 2017/2018 Maha Season

- After reviewing the paddy purchasing programmes implemented by the Government previously and taking into consideration the matters raised by the District Secretaries and the other relevant officers at the meetings conducted recently, attention has been drawn to implement the oncoming paddy purchasing programme more effectively.

Accordingly, considering the proposal made by Hon. Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, the Minister of Finance and Mass Media, and Hon. P. Harison, the Minister of Rural Economy in this regard, approval of the Cabinet was granted to purchase per kg of Nadu Paddy for Rs.38/-, per kg and Samba/Keeri Samba Paddy for Rs.41/- by the intervention of the Paddy Marketing Board and the relevant District Secretaries in the districts where the government intervention is needed to ensure the guaranteed purchasing price of paddy.
