Supply of the Firefighting Vehicles / Equipment for the Colombo Municipal Council

- It is essential to strengthen the Fire Service Department in the Colombo Municipal Council in ensuring the protection of the lives and property of the residents especially in multy storied buildings, concurrent to the development activities carried out in the city of Colombo and the suburbs. Accordingly, it has been proposed to supply new fire fighting vehicles and equipment to the fleet of fire fighting vehicle pool of the Department which is maintained at an exorbitant cost. Therefore, the proposal made by Hon. Faiszer Musthapha, the Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government, to award the contract to M/s Rosenbauer International AG in Austria for a sum of Euro 10.3 million, as recommended by the Cabinet Appointed Negotiation Committee, was approved by the Cabinet.
