Construction of a Secretariat Building Complex for the Offices of the Parliament, Offices of the National Commissions and the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers and any compatible Government Offices

- A proposal has been made to construct a Secretariat on a land in close proximity to the Japan - Sri Lanka friendship road for offices related to Parliamentary Affairs, the offices of the National Constitutional Commissions established under the Constitution, the office of the Cabinet of Ministers and any other compatible Government Offices. The construction of the proposed Secretariat will have a built up office floor area of 35,000 m2, 15,000 m2 for common spaces, adequate vehicle parking slots with other infrastructure facilities and it is planned to be constructed within a period of three (03) years. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka, the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, to carry out the activities relevant to the project, was approved by the Cabinet in principle.
