Upgrading of the Railway track from Maho to Omanthai

- Cabinet approval has been granted for the rehabilitation of the section of the railway track from Maho to Omanthai under the Indian Line of Credit. The pre-qualification process to identify the engineering, procurement and construction contractors for the project has commenced and bid documents have been issued to 03 selected companies which have fulfilled the pre-qualifications, taking into consideration the observations of the EXIM Bank of India.

Accordingly, the Cabinet noted, the information submitted by Hon. Nimal Siripala de Silva, the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, to the effect that the road development activities of the Maho - Anuradhapura section and Anuradhapura - Vavunia section have been planned separately in order to complete the activities expeditiously.
