Development of the infrastructure facilities in the Universities

- Budgetary provision has been set apart from the year 2018, to improve the infrastructure facilities in the Universities to suit the academic courses of the students creating space for their educational activities who enter the Universities. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Lakshman Kiriella, the Minister of Higher Education and Highways, to implement the following infrastructure development projects utilizing the allocated provision, was approved in principle by the Cabinet.

* Construction of 02, three storey buildings for the Library and the Information Technology Centre of the Vavunia Campus of the University of Jaffna.

* Construction of a three storey building for the Lecture Hall of the Faculty of Technology of the University of Ruhuna.

* Construction of Quarters for the staff of the Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka in Anuradhapura.

* Construction of a four storey building for the Postgraduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies of the University of Kelaniya.
