Enhancing the pension allowance granted by the National Film Corporation Trust for the Film Artists and Technicians

- A programme for granting a monthly pension allowance for the Film Artists and Technicians who have completed 60 years of age has been established by an Act, of Parliament No.3 of 1986 and it is being implemented by the 'National Film Corporation Trust' since the year 1987. Under this programme 57 Film Artist and Technician pensioneers are presently granted a monthly allowance of Rs.2,000/- each and a further 106 eligible applicants are there in anticipation of the allowance.

Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ranjith Madduma Bandara, the Minister of Public Administration and Management, to enhance this monthly pension allowance up to Rs.5,000/- considering the present situation and to seek a Treasury grant of Rs.10 million for the National Film Corporation Trust to enable the Trust to pay the said allowance for 163 Film Artist and Technician pensioners, was approved by the Cabinet.
