Securing of Funds for the implementation of the Greater Ratnapura Water Supply Project

- Under the Greater Ratnapura Water Supply Project, it is anticipated to provide around 3,500 new pipe born water connections covering 29 Grama Niladhari Divisions. The contract for installing the other accessories required for the distribution system, the DI Valves and the supply and laying of pipes has by now been awarded in accordance with the Cabinet approval and the Bank of Ceylon has agreed to grant a loan of Rs.1,528.9 million to secure the required funds to cover its cost.

Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe, the Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs, to vest the authority with the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWS&DB) to enter into an Agreement with the Bank of Ceylon to obtain the loan facility, was approved by the Cabinet.
