Securing of Funds for the implementation of the Hasalaka Water Supply Project

- The Hasalaka Water Supply Project has been designed to address the drinking water issue in the Hasalaka area and plans are underway to provide clean water for about 49,370 people covering 33 Grama Niladhari Divisions. Presently, the contract for the implementation of the project has been awarded in accordance with the approval of the Cabinet and the People's Bank has agreed to grant a loan of Rs.6,235 million to secure the required funds to cover its cost.

Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe, the Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs, to vest the authority with the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWS&DB) to enter into an Agreement with the People's Bank to obtain the loan facility, was approved by the Cabinet.
