Procurement for the construction of a Stroke Treatment Unit at the Teaching Hospital in Kurunegala
- Stroke is a leading cause of adult disabilities and it has become the 4th leading cause of deaths in the hospital system in Sri Lanka. Except for the rehabilitation hospital in Ragama a properly developed stroke unit is not available in any hospital, in the country, at present. As such, the approval of the Cabinet has been granted for the construction of a stroke unit at the teaching hospital in Kurunegala.

Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, to award the contract for the construction of the stroke unit to M/s Link Engineering (Pvt.) Ltd., for a sum of Rs.230.57 million, as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee, was approved by the Cabinet.
