Implementation of the Anuradhapura North Water Supply Project - Phase 1
- The Anuradhapura North Water Supply Project - Phase 1 is implemented with the objective of providing safe drinking water to the people living in the Rambewa and Medawachchiya Divisional Secretary Divisions who depend on unsafe ground water which causes Chronic Kidney Diseases and Dental and Skeletal Fluorosis.

As such, the proposal made by Hon. Rauff Hakeem, the Minister of City Planning and Water Supply, to award the contract for the construction of the Intake Facility, the Water Treatment Plant, the Water Storage Structures and the Mechanical, Electrical and Building Works, under Phase 1 of the project, to M/s Access Engineering PLC for a sum equivalent to a total of US$ 6.17 million received from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and a sum of Rs.2,349 million of domestic funds , as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC), was approved by the Cabinet.
