Payment of Compensation to the Victims of the incident that took place in Beruwala and Aluthgama in the Kalutara District on 2014-06-15 and 2014-06-16

- Some unknown persons had destroyed the properties belonging to 273 families during an unfortunate incident that took place in Beruwala and Aluthgama in the Kulatara District on the 15th and 16th of June 2014 and the Sri Lanka Army renovated those damaged buildings. However, a compensation was not paid to the victims to restore the damaged furniture and their livelihood.

The Officials' Committee appointed to examine the relevant damages has recommended the payment of compensation for other properties and furniture lost due to the incident. As such, taking into consideration a proposal submitted by Hon. D.M. Swaminathan, the Minister of Prison Reforms, Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Hindu Religious Affairs, approval of the Cabinet was granted to pay compensation subject to the existing provisions.
