Establishment of the New Villages Development Authority for the Plantation Regions

- Approval of the Cabinet has been granted for the Establishment of the 'New Villages Development Authority' for the Plantation Regions, in order to empower the plantation community living in those areas economically and socially with a view to making them contribute to the national development process through the Socio-economic, Cultural and Infrastructure Development in the plantation sector of Sri Lanka.

The Agreements reached after discussion on the provisions incorporated in the Bill prepared by the Legal Draftsman for the purpose, were submitted to the Cabinet by Hon. Navin Dissanayake, the Minister of Plantation Industries and Hon. U. Palani Digambaram, the Minister of Hill Country New Villages, Infrastructure and Community Development and the approval of the Cabinet was granted to proceed with the process.
