Improving the Educational Institutions of the Dasa Sil Mathavos

- The necessity has arisen to prepare a programme of a high level to provide Dhamma discipline training required for the Dasa Sil Mathavos who have entered the Sasana and the Dasa Sil Mathavos who are to enter the Sasana in the future. Four Dasa Sil Matha Educational Institutions have already commenced and to provide the necessary Dhamma based knowledge, training on rituals pertaining to the Sasana and basic Pirivena education essential for the Dasa Sil Mathavos and it is of importance to provide sponsorship to manage these institutions duly.

As such, the proposal made by Hon. Gamini Jayawickrema Perera, the Minister of Buddhasasana, to design a formal institutional structure for the educational institutions dedicated for Dasa Sil Mathavos, to introduce a formal study course and to appoint an Advisory Board to formalize the administration of such institutions and to provide the maintenance expenditure by the Government, was approved by the Cabinet.
