Revision of Salaries and Allowances of the Judges and the Law Officers of the Attorney General’s Department and the Legal Draftsman’s Department

- The need for the revision of salaries and allowances of the Judges and the Law Officers of the Attorney General’s Department and the Legal Draftsman’s Department, considering the functions they perform and the responsibility they are entrusted with has been the subject under discussion for a length of time.

The Cabinet Sub-Committee on Establishment Matters has had consultations with the National Salaries and Cadres Commission and the other relevant stakeholders on this issue and an Officials' Committee has also been appointed to study the matter. Accordingly, taking into consideration the recommendations of the Officials' Committee, the Cabinet has granted approval to revise the salaries and allowances of the High Court Judges, Judges of the other Lower Courts and the Law Officers of the Attorney General’s Department and the Legal Draftsman’s Department to be effective from the year 2018 and considering such revisions to move a resolution in Parliament to revise the salaries and allowances of the Judges of the Superior Courts, was approved by the Cabinet.
