Award of contract for the establishment of small scale Solar Power Plants under the 'Soorya Bala Sangramaya Programme'

- It has been planned to establish Solar Power Plants under the 'Soorya Bala Sangramaya Programme' Islandwide and suitable grid substations have been identified to transmit power to the National Electricity Network. Accordingly, proposals have been called upon from private investors for the establishment of 60 small scale Solar Power Plants with the capacity of 01 MW, on the basis of purchasing electricity for 20 grid substations under Phase II of the Programme. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, the Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, to award the tender for the construction of the Solar Power Plants, to the investors selected on the recommendation of the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC) and the Procurement Appeal Board, was approved by the Cabinet.
