Carrying out maintenance work of the Turbine of Unit 2 and the major accessories of the Lakvijaya Power Station

- Lakvijaya power plant in Puttlam consists of 3 units each of 300 MW. The unit 02 of the Turbine which started its power generation activity in the year 2014, consists of 15 major systems and the maintenance work pertaining to the system due for the first time has to be carried out. The Memorandum of Understanding entered into with the China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), the original contractor, is valid until September 2019.

Therefore, the proposal made by Hon. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, the Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, to award the said maintenance contract to the China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) for a sum of Rs.263.4 million, as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee, was approved by the Cabinet.
